Bruckner 8th Symphony

In the collection of Gerhard Symons (2020).

This stained glass panel was designed and created for a suite of artworks that Symons is curating in honour of the 200th anniversary of Anton Bruckner’s birth in 1824. Many of the elements were designed to reflect the life and personality of Bruckner. Some motifs reappear in other artworks in the suite such as the red and white of the Austrian flag reflecting his heritage. Specific to this panel is the inclusion of organ pipes exploding from the centre point - a reminder of his musical roots as an organist, and hinting at the cathedral-like quality of his symphonies.
